Job summary
Rochester Gas & Electric Corp, in Rochester, NY, seeks a Senior Engineer - Protection & Control to research best practices and develop P&C standards for transmission, substation, and distribution systems. You will evaluate new P&C technologies and contribute to internal white papers, leading projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key responsibilities include authoring standards, presenting to diverse audiences, and mentoring others in engineering tools and processes.
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in Electrical Engineering.
- 2 years of experience specifically in P&C, substation engineering, substation testing and commissioning, or similar engineering.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
Responsibilities
- General responsibilities include assisting in the development of P&C engineering standards, relay setting file templates, and engineering tools.
- Conducts engineering analysis, researching industry papers and manuals.
- As a senior engineer, this position grants autonomy to propose solutions to open-ended challenges but requires the engineer to work mostly autonomously.
- The senior engineer is expected to lead engineering projects and facilitate meeting with other P&C engineers, other departments, contractors, and vendors.
- Authoring engineering standards and presenting to technical and non-technical audiences.
