Job summary

Mesa Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced Owner's Engineer to oversee electrical substation projects. This crucial role involves ensuring that engineering deliverables meet utility standards while mentoring junior engineers.

The position is part-time with a flexible schedule, ideally requiring 20+ hours per week. While reporting to the Knoxville office is preferred, highly qualified candidates may work fully remote with periodic office visits based on performance.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive experience in high-voltage electric substation engineering.
• Experience working directly for a utility is a plus but not required.
• Familiarity with yard layouts, rigid/strain bus design, and lightning protection.

Responsibilities

• Review engineering deliverables for compliance with project requirements.
• Check junior personnel’s work for accuracy and adherence to standards.
• Prepare engineering labor cost estimates.
• Advocate for the project owner during various project phases.
