Job summary

CHA Consulting, Inc. seeks a Senior Overhead Electrical Transmission Engineer to join our Electric Overhead Transmission Team, with fully remote capabilities and occasional on-site work near Denver, Tucson, or Atlanta.

You will lead the technical execution of complex designs, mentor junior staff, engage with clients to grow relationships, and develop work plans and proposals to deliver projects on time and within budget, advancing grid reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Minimum of 10 years progressive engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Expert knowledge of the engineering discipline with the ability to apply best practices across areas.
• Advanced proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MicroStation).
• Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures, business practices, and engineering laws.
• Experience supporting utility projects for clients such as Xcel Energy (Denver) or Tucson Electric Power (TEP) preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert consultation and resolve highly complex technical issues in electric overhead transmission.
• Lead advanced technical projects, collaborating with other engineering departments and project management staff to deliver sustainable solutions.
• Engage with clients to grow relationships and offer additional services.
• Develop and manage discipline work plans aligned with project milestones, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Guide and mentor junior engineering staff with technical reviews and support.
• Deliver technical development of proposals and external presentations to clients, public, and regulatory agencies.

What You'll Do

• Lead the technical execution of complex engineering designs, technical reports, and specifications for electric overhead transmission infrastructure
• Provide expert consultation and resolve highly complex technical issues in various areas of electric overhead transmission
• Lead advanced technical projects, collaborating with other engineering departments and project management staff to deliver sustainable solutions that enhance grid resiliency and energy efficiency
• Engage with clients to grow our established relationships, offer them additional services, and take on exciting opportunities
• Develop and manage discipline work plans aligned with project milestones, ensuring projects are completed within budget and scheduling restraints
• Guide and mentor junior engineering staff, including providing technical reviews and supportDeliver technical development of proposals and external presentations to clients, public, and regulatory agencies

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required
• Minimum of 10 years progressive engineering experience required
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• Expert knowledge of the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to apply best practices across various areas

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
