Job summary

TDS Telecom in Madison, WI seeks a Senior Outside Plant Construction Technician to oversee the build and maintenance of PON/fiber networks. You will operate advanced construction equipment, coordinate with teams, and ensure safety and quality across projects.

The role offers in-house CDL training, safety programs, and a $3,000 sign-on bonus. You may travel as needed and contribute to on-time, within-budget project delivery while advancing field expertise.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of construction equipment operation with various equipment (drills, trencher, backhoe, bucket trucks)
• 1+ years leading construction projects as crew foreperson or PM
• Must follow attendance guidelines to meet business needs
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and be eligible for DOT requirements
• Ability to obtain Class A CDL per in-house training program

Responsibilities

• Receive maps and staking sheets; ensure project is built with limited guidance
• Communicate updates to project team as required
• Manage daily/weekly project work based on deadlines, materials and weather
• Coordinate with supervisor for materials availability and work flow
• Draft and submit redlines after project completion
• Ensure locates are performed on time before team/equipment arrive
• Engage municipalities, utilities, suppliers, contractors and property owners to coordinate tasks
• Read construction plans and permits to determine approach
• Maintain project docs and track material costs
• Ensure DOT inspections are performed on equipment
