Job summary

Bollinger Shipyards in Pascagoula, MS seeks a 1st Class Outside Machinist to install vessel machinery using blueprints and hand tools. Candidates should be familiar with air controls and tubing bending.

The role requires 6–12 months of marine or related experience, reading drawings, start-up procedures, propulsion alignment, and familiarity with marine construction from design to testing. Welding experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months to one (1) year of marine or continuous Company experience required.
• Ability to read and interpret standard construction drawings, specifications, and other technical publications.
• Good working knowledge of system start-up procedures, propulsion system alignment, and machinery parts.
• Familiar with all aspects of craft‑specific marine construction from design through installation and operational testing.
• Versed in applicable commercial and military specifications and standards.
• Knowledge of how to use necessary tools and equipment (i.e. calipers, micrometers, heavy jacks, chain falls, torch, etc.)
• Have some sort of experience or background in welding.

Responsibilities

• Install the vessels' machinery through the use of blueprints and hand tools and knowledge of air controls and tubing bending.
• Read and interpret standard construction drawings, specifications, and other technical publications.
• Maintain knowledge of start-up procedures, propulsion alignment, and machinery parts.
• Understand craft-specific marine construction from design through installation and testing.
• Follow applicable commercial and military specifications and standards.

• Possess welding experience.
