Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a GS-7 Primary Care Outpatient Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to perform more complex nursing assignments under general supervision.

The role requires independent technical judgments and applying comprehensive nursing knowledge in outpatient care, with responsibilities across nursing procedures, documentation, and collaboration with RNs and HCPs. The LPN will support veteran care needs, participate in governance activities, and may travel between VA

Qualifications

• United States citizenship requirement and English-language proficiency.
• Graduate of an approved practical/vocational nursing program.
• Active, unrestricted LPN/LVN licensure in U.S. state or territory.
• Ability to travel between VA facilities may be required.

Responsibilities

• Promote and demonstrate nursing concepts in the Medical Center.
• Collaborate with RN and Health Care Provider to plan care.
• Document care and patient responses on appropriate forms.
• Perform nursing procedures per policy and supervising staff guidance.
• Monitor and report changes in patient condition to the team.
• Assist in prioritizing veteran care needs and adjust plans as needed.
• Work independently with intermittent supervision and effective communication with veterans and staff.
• Participate in Shared Governance to improve care quality.
