Job summary

AbbVie Inc. in Tempe, AZ seeks a skilled OT Automation Engineer to lead moderate to complex configuration and programming of Operation Technology systems across manufacturing, utilities, and facilities.

You will guide small to medium automation projects, provide troubleshooting support, and maintain OT systems per established procedures. The role demands SME-level expertise in automation applications, process control, validation activities, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline with a minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience required.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline with a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience required.
• Experience administering and/or configuring Distributed Control Systems (DCS) such as Emerson DeltaV, Foxboro I/A, is required.
• Experience with SCADA and PLCs (such as Allen-Bradley ControlLogix), programming in ladder logic and HMI graphics development would be a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develops moderate to complex control configuration or programming per design documents to meet functional requirements.
• Acts as SME for Automation Applications and Process Control systems.
• Provides process controls inputs and recommendations regarding manufacturing operation continuance issues and process improvements.
• Leads OT Systems lifecycle deliverables including validation activities and documentation such as System FDS and Design Specifications.
• Implements new tools for OT Systems administration and maintenance (OS updates, user accounts, backups).
• Coordinates project management techniques for automation projects and supports Capital projects when needed.
• Collaborates with supply chain/operations to schedule maintenance, occasionally requiring after-hours work.
• Provides training for OT Systems Users/Engineers in new automation technologies.
• Diagnoses and troubleshoots OT System hardware, software, and networking issues and validates upgrades and migrations.
