Job summary

ASRC Federal is seeking an Orion Orbital Arc Weld Spacecraft Technician, Senior, 2nd Shift at Kennedy Space Center, FL. The role involves assembling and maintaining welding systems for the Orion MPCV, reading complex engineering documents, and ensuring weld quality for spaceflight hardware.

Responsibilities include welding to AWS D17.1 specs, working with thin-wall alloys, and operating fabrication equipment, with emphasis on precision and safety in a high-technology aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with additional technical training equivalent to an Associate degree and 5+ years of experience.
• Vocational/military training 2+ years or technical field experience.
• Ability to read, interpret and work from blue prints, schematics, and other engineering documents.

Responsibilities

• Experience with AWS D17.1 or similar fusion/orbital welding specifications.
• Work with thin wall tubing alloys (CRES, Inconel, Titanium).
• Set up, adjust, and operate manual tube bending equipment.
• Set up, adjust, and operate tube fabrication equipment ( cutters, facers, deburring tools).
• Read and follow blue prints, schematics and drawings.
• Use precision tools to measure tight tolerances (calipers, height gauge, scales).
• Perform alignment checks and implement adjustments as directed.
• Construct, assemble, troubleshoot, calibrate and maintain welding equipment to meet requirements.
• Perform duties involving electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical assembly of spacecraft and ground support equipment.
• Carry out corrosion control treatments on metals.
• Layout, cut, bend, form, fit, assemble sheet metal and shims.
• Use standard shop tools (band saw, chop saw, grinders, drills).
• Complete and maintain production orders and documentation; utilize MES where applicable.
• Suggest improvements to quality, efficiency and productivity.
