Job Title: Senior Oracle PL/SQL Developer

Position Overview:
Our client, a leading global provider of technology enabled claims and risk management solutions, is immediately seeking a skilled Oracle PL/SQL Developer to join their team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in Oracle server-side programming, including PL/SQL, SQL, and related technologies. This role requires a strong background in data analysis, performance tuning, and automation, with hands‑on experience in working with complex database components and optimizing query performance to support mission‑critical applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain PL/SQL code including packages, procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
- Perform complex data analysis, modeling, and documentation tasks.
- Develop and maintain scheduled jobs using UNIX Shell scripts and Oracle Schedulers to automate batch processes.
- Create and optimize Materialized Views, Indexes, and Dynamic SQL for performance improvement.
- Implement and troubleshoot XML generation within PL/SQL components.
- Conduct SQL tuning and performance optimization using tools such as Oracle Explain Plan.
- Write and maintain PL/SQL Web Services, Stored Procedures, and work with Oracle AQ.
- Use object‑oriented PL/SQL programming including user‑defined types, cursors, records, and collections (arrays/queues).
- Handle error and exception management with robust debugging and logging practices.
- Import and process high volumes of data using external tables and other Oracle features.
- Collaborate with business analysts and end users to define functional and technical requirements.
- Document all development efforts and provide support for production issues.
- Support the development of applications across various platforms, including Windows client/server environments.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical mentoring and growth of the team.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience as an Oracle PL/SQL Developer.
- Extensive experience with Oracle server‑side programming, including SQL, SQL*Plus, PL/SQL Packages, Stored Procedures, Functions, Cursors, Triggers, Views, Materialized Views, Temporary Tables, Object‑Oriented PL/SQL, Job Scheduling, PL/SQL Web Services, Java Stored Procedures, and Oracle AQ.
- Experience with UNIX Shell scripting for database automation
- Proficiency with Dynamic SQL, Exception handling, and debugging
- Expertise in SQL performance tuning and optimization
- Strong skills in data analysis, modeling, development, testing, and documentation.
- Experience automating tasks using UNIX Shell scripts.
- Expertise in writing cursors, user‑defined object types, records, and tables for PL/SQL programming.
- Extensive experience with exception handling and debugging PL/SQL code.
- Knowledge of performance tuning, query optimization, and the use of Oracle Explain Plan.
- Strong skills in the creation of materialized views, indexes, and dynamic SQL statements for better performance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree specialization in Information Systems or Computer Science.
- Experience with additional platforms such as .NET, Microsoft SQL Server, or Progress 4GL.
- Familiarity with insurance domain applications and regulatory reporting is a plus.
- Experience in mentoring junior developers and collaborating in cross‑functional teams.
