Job summary

Sligo Software Solutions Inc. in New York is seeking an experienced Oracle DBA to support installation, configuration, hardening, backup validation and performance tuning of Oracle databases on AIX. The role includes monitoring and collaborating with development teams to meet business goals.

Responsibilities include upgrades, RMAN backups, storage planning, security enhancements, and mentoring fellow staff. Onsite work and occasional after-hours maintenance are expected.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of Oracle DBA experience in Unix/AIX environments.
• Experience with Oracle security, auditing, and remote authentication.

Responsibilities

• Assist Database team with installation, configuration and hardening of Oracle databases.
• Install, upgrade and maintain Oracle databases on AIX, including backup and recovery.
• Plan storage and future storage needs for the database system.
• Collaborate with application developers and system architects to meet business goals.
• Perform off-hours maintenance and emergency tasks as needed.
• Provide support for internal users and external data exchange partners.
• Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning and resource optimization.
• Recommend technical architecture and Oracle security measures (TDE, Wallet).
• Provide hands-on training and mentoring for database staff.
• Handle ITSM requests and incidents related to databases.
