Job summary

The State of Indiana is hiring a Senior Oracle Database Administrator to safeguard data integrity, security, and performance for Oracle databases at the Indiana Government Center in Indianapolis. The role loads, tunes, backups, and patches while guiding infrastructure decisions to support current and future needs.

Onsite work in Indianapolis, with a salary starting around $70,122 and a comprehensive benefits package. A degree is not required, but 7+ years of relevant experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Expert in administering multi-terabyte, 24x7 uptime Oracle databases.
• Software and utilities related to supported DBMS such as Reorg, Backup, Recovery.
• Capacity planning and disaster recovery.
• Relational databases and data warehouse design techniques and dimensional modeling processes.
• Features such as Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Automatic Storage Movement (ASM), Active Data Guard, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), and Golden Gate replication.
• Self-starter with excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work seamlessly in a team environment including DBA team, developers, and systems owners.
• Strong knowledge and skills working with Oracle versions 11gR1/2, 12c, and 19c in a Microsoft Windows and Linus environment.
• Strong understanding of database architecture and performance tuning.
• Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware and Citrix.
• Experience with Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN).
• Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of complex database systems to ensure high availability and quality.
• Develop and implement strategies for database performance tuning, and optimization of database systems, including indexing, query optimization, and resource management.
• Develop, manage, and enhance backup and recovery strategies to protect data integrity and availability.
• Implement and enforce robust database security measures, including access controls and monitoring for potential security breaches.
• Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across databases through regular audits, validations, and quality checks.
• Provide advanced support to end-users, diagnose and resolve complex database-related issues on database-related issues and queries.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, policies, and procedures.
• Work closely with developers, system administrators, IT staff, and other stakeholders to design and implement new database-related projects and initiatives
• Ensure compliance with database vendor license agreements and industry regulations.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior database administrators and other IT staff.
