Senior Oracle Database Administrator - Hybrid, OH

Must be a very dependable and experienced ORACLE DBA to manage complex systems like the Ohio SACWIS system, which uses ORACLE (runs on UNIX with RAC architecture) as the database.
The Department of Children and Youth (DCY), Office of Information Services (OIS), is seeking an experienced Oracle database administrator who will drive high-caliber database design, solution delivery, and support in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. The successful candidate must be an influential technical leader with deep database expertise and a collaborative style that promotes a culture of innovation and well-managed excellence. We are seeking an experienced Oracle DBA capable of managing the ORACLE databases for complex systems like Ohio SACWIS that uses RAC (Real Application Clustering) architecture on the UNIX platform.
Key Skills and Experience:
- PL/SQL experience, Transparent Data Encryption, database partitioning, Shell scripting, and Oracle Data Guard are essential.
- RAC experience is preferred to manage the Ohio SACWIS system on Unix with RAC architecture.
- Experience working with other database platforms, including Azure Cloud and Oracle Databases.
Responsibilities:
- Provide DBA support for distributed servers in a multi-datacenter environment.
- Monitor daily activities and performance of complex application environments, analyze technical problems, recommend adjustments, and implement solutions.
- Assist application development teams with database design and programming.
- Develop technical documents, project plans, and interact with customers for proposed solutions.
- Support deployment of code and troubleshoot application issues in non-production and production environments.
- Support DevOps tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, Nexus, Maven, Bitbucket, Kony Mobile, Nginx, etc.
- Lead meetings related to database design, implementation, operation, and maintenance.
- Design and plan hardware for cluster nodes, configure interconnects, and set up cluster-aware storage.
- Monitor load balancing, tune cluster parameters, and configure standby servers.
- Implement log shipping, replication, and other high-availability features.
- Provide technical leadership to foster database innovation and automation.
- Plan and support database architecture, resource management, and capacity planning.
- Ensure best practices in database design, performance, and resilience.
- Evaluate and propose process improvements for performance and cost optimization.
- Identify inefficiencies and oversee implementations of improvements.
- Plan capacity and resource expansion for scalability.
- Implement risk management controls and ensure compliance with security protocols.
- Lead incident resolution and corrective actions.
- Research and recommend database products, services, and standards.
- Support virtualized infrastructure running various Unix, Linux, and AIX OS.
- Update database security protocols and perform patching.
- Provide leadership and guidance to less experienced personnel.
- Coordinate with project management for deployments and upgrades.
