Job description

Join to apply for the Senior or Principal Estimator role at Portland General Electric.

At PGE, our work involves dreaming about, planning for, and realizing a smarter, cleaner, more enduring Oregon neighborhood. Since 1888, we've energized lives, strengthened communities, and driven advancements in energy that promote social, economic, and environmental progress. We seek passionate individuals to lead and innovate in clean energy solutions that are affordable and accessible to all.

As a Senior/Principal Estimator at PGE, you will develop accurate budgets for capital construction projects, collaborating with engineers, project managers, and procurement teams to assess costs related to infrastructure development, equipment, and system upgrades. Your expertise will support informed decision-making, resource allocation, and project success within budget.

The primary projects involve substations, transmission/distribution infrastructure, and possibly generation plants. This role combines construction knowledge with financial expertise, including data analytics, cost engineering, and reading technical drawings.

Key qualifications include:

  • Experience in construction, engineering, or cost estimating, preferably within the electric utility or energy sector.
  • Knowledge of cost engineering principles (certifications like AACE preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience with estimating tools and software.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently and communicate effectively.

We are hiring for both Senior and Principal Estimator levels; the final level depends on your experience and skills.

Responsibilities vary slightly between levels but include project collaboration, estimate preparation, data analysis, budget development, bid support, and financial tracking. The Principal Estimator additionally focuses on process improvements and program development.

Minimum requirements include a bachelor's degree in a related field, with 5+ years of experience for Senior Estimator and 8+ years for Principal Estimator, along with relevant certifications like CCP, CEP, or PMP as a plus.

The role offers a salary range of $72,900 to $173,875, with potential for performance bonuses and a flexible hybrid work environment. PGE values performance and offers comprehensive rewards and professional development opportunities.
