Job summary

Samtec Microelectronics in Colorado Springs seeks a Senior Optoelectronics Process Development Engineer to lead complex studies and mentor junior staff in microelectronics/ optics manufacturing.

The role requires broad experience with manufacturing processes, DOEs, FMEAs, and analytics to improve performance and cost. Strong alignment and cross-functional collaboration across Design, Product, and Operations are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials Engineering, Physics or related field is required.
• 5-10 years of experience in opto-electronics or microelectronics manufacturing with emphasis on process development.
• Experience with optical alignment or equivalent high-precision alignment processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute experiments to identify key process variables using DOE methodologies or similar methods.
• Develop manufacturing best practices, parameters, process windows, and work instructions for new product development.
• Apply Six Sigma DMAIC to determine root causes and solutions for process challenges.
• Use statistical methods to assess process capability and ensure requirements are met.
• Develop criteria to decide readiness of new processes for full-volume production.
• Provide guidance to other departments/sites on shared manufacturing processes.
