Job summary

nLIGHT-DEFENSE Systems, Inc. in Longmont, CO is seeking an Opto-Mechanical Engineering Analyst to perform rigorous multiphysical analysis on complex components and systems. The role centers on Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and related techniques to create ruggedized, manufacturable, cost-optimized solutions for high energy laser technologies.

All applicants must possess or be eligible to obtain a U.S. DoD Personnel Security Clearance; preference given to those with existing clearances.

Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years performing multiphysical finite element analysis in a professional setting.
Experience with scripting languages for mathematical analysis (MATLAB preferred; Python, etc. accepted).
U.S. DoD Personnel Security Clearance preferred; ability to obtain is required.
Experience in opto-mechanical systems analysis and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

Perform detailed analysis on opto-mechanical systems using FEA, analytical approaches, and numeric methods.
Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and scientists to define requirements and analysis goals.
Translate CAD models into analyzable forms and iterate designs toward optimal solutions.
Document tasks and track progress using project/configuration management tools.
