Job summary

PSI Pax, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Opto-Mechanical Engineer to drive the design of optical payloads for space missions. You will lead cross-functional efforts across optical, structural, thermal, and reliability teams to ensure payloads meet STOP requirements from concept to flight.

Based in our San Mateo location, the role is full-time and in-office at the San Francisco HQ, with collaboration across agile aerospace processes and manufacturing lines for high-reliability space environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field required.
• 4+ years of experience owning opto-mechanical product development from requirements through design, testing and manufacturing.
• Experience designing for high-reliability space environments including launch survivability and vacuum.
• Experience designing and fabricating optical assemblies with glass, carbon fiber, metals, ceramics, epoxies, and mechanisms.

Responsibilities

• Own the opto-mechanical manufacturing process of optical payloads.
• Design the manufacturing line for mid-volume production with first-principles, data-driven decisions for efficient assembly and test.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive analyses for stiffness, strength, thermal, and launch survivability, maintaining on-orbit performance (STOP).
