Job summary

Alcon Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a Principal Opto-Mechanical Engineer in Lake Forest, CA.

You will lead teams designing, validating, and optimizing optical components and systems, applying advanced research to achieve high-precision results while complying with regulatory standards. You will collaborate across functions to deliver innovative optical solutions, support documentation, V&V, risk management, and manufacturing ramp-up.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering or related field.
• Experience in opto-mechanical engineering for medical devices is preferred.
• Knowledge of 21 CFR 820 or ISO 13485 design controls is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Oversee optical engineering projects, leading design, validation, and optimization of components and systems.
• Conduct advanced research on light behavior, materials, and optical performance.
• Ensure designs meet high-precision, regulatory, and quality requirements.
• Lead cross-functional teams including optics, mechanical, electrical, software, QA, and manufacturing.
• Develop and document designs using GD&T, tolerance analysis, and PLM tools.
