Job summary

IPG Photonics is seeking a Senior Opto Mechanical Engineer in Oxford, MA to join a small, multi-disciplinary team developing robust laser modules and conversion heads. You will design optical mounts and laser head packages, and drive prototypes through production, with close vendor collaboration and hands-on testing.

The role requires 5+ years in opto-mechanical development, strong communication, and a hands-on approach to design, analysis, and verification in a fast-growing, globally connected

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in developing opto-mech devices and systems.
• Knowledge of various optic mounting techniques.
• Functional knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes.
• Efficient design and development organizational skills.
• Clear Written and Verbal Communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and development of optical mounts/components and laser head packages.
• Design from concept to final product including layouts, details, BOMs, procedures and test plans.
• Build and qualify prototypes.
• Design tooling to perform optical alignments.
• Perform thermal FEA.
• Create and execute tests and tooling for design verification/validation.
• Review specs and drawings to assess factors affecting designs.
• Create and Release Production Support Documentation.
• Work closely with internal and external vendors.
• Project Status Reporting.
• May lead a team.
