Job summary

Sciton in Palo Alto, CA is seeking a Senior Assembler to build optical and mechanical sub-assemblies, collaborate with Engineering on prototypes, and contribute to high-precision manufacturing in a fast‑moving environment.

You will train and mentor teammates, implement process improvements, and ensure quality through in-process inspections while maintaining a safe, compliant workplace.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing assembly role.
• Experience building complex electro-mechanical and/or opto-mechanical assemblies.
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and lift up to 20 pounds.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to train and mentor other assemblers.

Responsibilities

• Independently build optical and mechanical precision sub-assemblies using hand tools, fixtures, and specialized equipment
• Train and mentor assemblers on assembly techniques and processing requirements
• Partner with Engineering to build prototype and pilot products
• Collaborate with Engineering to identify and implement process improvements
• Redline bills of materials and process documentation to support controlled document updates
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair returned or nonconforming assemblies
• Use precision measuring devices and equipment to ensure proper form, fit, and function
• Perform in-process quality inspections on components and assemblies
• Collect, kit, and maintain materials required for sub-assemblies
• Execute standard assembly tasks, including component installation, electrical wiring, hand soldering, cable harnessing, plumbing, bonding, cleaning, labeling, and packaging
• Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment in accordance with procedures, protocols, and industry regulations
