Job summary

Oracle is seeking a Senior Optical Engineer to join the Optical Network Engineering team responsible for building and scaling Oracle's Optical Transport Network. The role focuses on engineering and development, FOA deployment, and delivering optical capacity to support Oracle's cloud and AI infrastructure.

You will lead lifecycle programs, decompose architectures, develop automation, and mentor staff while partnering with vendor teams and product groups to ensure operational readiness and cost

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of network infrastructure engineering in optics and optical networks.
• Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering; a Master's preferred.
• Experience with data center engineering cabling preferred.
• Product Lifecycle Management experience is a plus.
• Experience with testing and qualification processes is a plus.
• Python coding and scripting is a big plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead network lifecycle programs with objectives, milestones, and tasks.
• Act as technical lead coordinating two to three engineers.
• Advise project managers and coordinate with leadership.
• Collaborate across teams as a subject-matter expert.
• Own requirements, specs, designs, and documentation.
• Decompose architectures into detailed, scalable designs.
• Lead engineers on multi-layer network solutions.
• Partner with service teams for monitoring, automation and ops readiness.
• Serve as Tier 3 escalation for network incidents.
• Drive root-cause analysis and systematic resolutions.
• Develop scripts and automation to streamline tasks.
• Contribute to network automation design and SDLC.
• Provide technical coaching to staff.
• Conduct coaching sessions to build skills.
• Collaborate with vendors to resolve issues and evaluate hardware/tech.
• Maintain communication with product teams, network leadership, PMO.
