Job summary

Lumicity is seeking a Senior Optical Test Engineer for Silicon Photonics and MEMS in San Jose to own optical measurement strategies from prototype to high-volume manufacturing. The role requires hands-on test-setup experience and deep familiarity with optical instrumentation, including OSA, tunable lasers, OTDR/OFDR, and BERT.

Strong emphasis on building scalable test stations, automating benches with Python, and collaborating across wafer and module characterization teams.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building photonic/optical test stations from scratch.
• Experience with optical instrumentation and characterization techniques.
• Python automation of test benches is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own how optical systems are measured from first prototype through to high-volume manufacturing (HVM).
• Design, build and troubleshoot test setups for silicon photonics and MEMS devices.
• Collaborate with wafer, die and module characterization teams to drive test coverage and reliability.

Lumicity is partnered with a growing, well-funded startup that is creating novel silicon photonic technology to address bottlenecks in AI processing.

This is a high impact position with the company, where you will own how optical systems are measured from first prototype through to HVM.

Compensation: Competitive Base + Equity

The skills needed for the role include:

• Hands-on experience building photonic / optical test stations from scratch and scaling them through to production


• Ability to build and debug optical measurement systems.


• Sound knowledge of optical instrumentation, including but not limited to; OSA, tunable lasers, OTDR/OFDR, BERT.


• Experience with wafer, die, or module-level characterization.


• Any experience automating test benches, using Python, would be advantageous.
