Job summary

IonQ is seeking a Senior Optical Test Setup Engineer based in Boston, MA. The role focuses on developing and expanding optical testing infrastructure for on-chip optical devices at both room temperature and cryogenic conditions. Ideal candidates will have 3+ years of experience in optical spectroscopy, along with a Master's or Ph.D. in a related field.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in optical spectroscopy or equivalent education and experience.
• Experience with test instrumentation and methods for room-temperature optical setups.
• Familiarity with free-space optics and imaging systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and expand the testing infrastructure for characterizing photonics devices.
• Develop testing procedures for component-level characterization.
• Automate the test pipeline and maintain high-quality, scalable flows.
• Collaborate with teams to optimize testing features for platform improvement.

Skills

Optical spectroscopy

Programming in Python or MATLAB

Experience with laser sources and fiber components
