Job summary

Lightera in Somerset, NJ is seeking a Senior Optical Technician to support our Production Realization Center. You will fabricate and process specialty fiber optic devices, perform grating fabrication, recoating, annealing, and conduct optical measurements using spectrum analyzers and lasers.

You will collect, record, and analyze process data, inspect products for quality, and troubleshoot issues with engineers to improve processes.

Qualifications

Associate degree in optics/photonics/related technical field
Minimum of 2 years in lab/manufacturing/optics/fiber optics
Basic knowledge of optics/photons/fiber optics
Ability to learn new equipment and procedures
Experience with optical lab equipment or cleanroom environments is a plus
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures

Responsibilities

Fabricate and process specialty fiber optic devices following procedures and specifications
Prepare optical fiber and perform grating fabrication, recoating, annealing
Perform optical measurements with lab equipment (spectrum analyzers, lasers)
Record and analyze data to support production and R&D
Inspect products to ensure quality and performance
Identify issues and communicate to minimize downtime
Collaborate with engineers and technicians on process improvements
Maintain clean, safe work environment and comply with PPE and SOPs
Support multiple workstations and learn new methods
