Excelitas Technologies operates as a global photonics leader with a Boulder facility focused on ultra-precision optical components and metrology. The Senior Metrology Engineer will drive transfer of tools from development to manufacturing and lead documentation, training, and tool verification activities.

The role emphasizes surface metrology, spectrophotometry, laser measurement, and continuous improvement of process controls, reliability, and uptime.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s in Physics, Optics, or related field; advanced degree desirable.
10 years experience in optical metrology desirable.
Proficiency with LabVIEW and Python; Gauge R&R and SPC desirable.

Responsibilities

Serve as SME for optical metrology (surface metrology, spectrophotometry, laser measurement).
Support transfer of metrology tools and processes from development to production.
Support continuous improvement of metrology, process controls, reliability, and uptime.
Create and improve documentation for measurement and QC of optical components.
Train technicians on tools and processes for optical metrology.
Conduct Gauge R&R and tool verification studies.
Support troubleshooting of existing optical metrology equipment and processes.
