Eoptic, Inc., based in Rochester, NY, designs and builds advanced imaging systems for space, defense, and industry. We seek a Senior Optical Imaging Production Technician to assemble, align, test, and integrate multi‑modal prism cameras, zoom optics, and larger payloads for space and CUAS applications.

In this hands‑on role you will take precision opto‑mechanical hardware from kit to verified flight hardware, lead alignment efforts, support environmental testing, and help improve production

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Optical Systems Technology, Precision Machining/Optics, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 5+ years of experience assembling, aligning, and testing precision optical or electro-optical systems.
• Hands-on experience with optical alignment and metrology equipment (interferometers, autocollimators, collimators, CMMs).
• Experience with adhesive bonding, staking, and torque-controlled assembly of precision opto-mechanics.
• Proficiency reading mechanical drawings, optical prints, and GD&T.
• Familiarity with cleanroom practices and ESD-safe handling of sensitive components.
• Due to ITAR/export control requirements, applicants must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident)

Responsibilities

• Assemble and align precision opto‑mechanical assemblies, including multi‑channel prism camera engines, zoom lens assemblies, and larger imaging payloads for space and CUAS platforms.
• Assemble, align, and characterize zoom optics, including cam and moving‑group alignment, focus/zoom tracking verification, and boresight stability across the zoom range.
• Perform optical alignment and bonding of prisms, beamsplitters, filters, and sensors to tight positional and angular tolerances using interferometers, autocollimators, alignment telescopes, and custom tooling.
• Execute optical and imaging system test procedures — MTF, boresight, focus, distortion, radiometric and spectral characterization — and record, analyze, and report results.
• Support environmental testing (thermal cycling, vibration, thermal vacuum) and pre/post‑test verification of flight and field hardware.
• Build, maintain, and improve production fixtures, test stations, and alignment tooling; recommend process improvements that increase yield and throughput.
• Develop, update, and maintain assembly work instructions, travelers, and quality control documentation for Eoptic products.
• Perform inspection and handling of precision optics and sensitive electro‑optical components in accordance with cleanroom and ESD protocols.
• Work closely with optical, mechanical, and electrical engineers to transfer new designs from prototype into repeatable production, and mentor junior technicians.
• Support root‑cause investigation and rework of non‑conforming hardware in coordination with the quality team.

Qualifications Preferred

• Experience building hardware for space flight, defense, or other high‑reliability applications (workmanship standards such as IPC or NASA‑STD‑8739)
• Experience with prism‑based or multi‑sensor camera architectures
• Experience assembling and testing zoom lenses or other multi‑element, moving‑group optical assemblies
• Experience with environmental test operations (TVAC, vibration, thermal cycling)
• Basic scripting or data analysis skills (Python, MATLAB) for test data reduction
