Horizon Surgical Systems Inc. is developing an AI-driven, imaging-guided robotic system for ophthalmic surgery, seeking an experienced Optical Engineer to contribute to advanced visualization and multimodal imaging.

You will work with a cross-functional team of optical, mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to design, align, and validate prototype systems, ensure quality, and support manufacturability in a startup environment.

Qualifikationen

• Minimum: BS+5, MS+3 or PhD with 0+ years of experience.
• Experience constructing, aligning and calibrating optical systems (bench and commercial).
• Familiarity with Zemax, Code V or OSLO.
• Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks).
• Strong understanding of opto-mechanical design, GD&T, coherence and detectors.
• Prior experience with Optical Coherence Tomography systems.
• Experience developing medical devices and knowledge of quality management and design controls.

Aufgaben

• Participate in optical and opto-mechanical design of a multimodal surgical imaging platform.
• Construct, align, calibrate and maintain advanced prototype systems; coordinate with EE/ME/Software teams.
• Devise, maintain and execute SOPs for construction, alignment and calibration.
• Construct and evaluate modular bench prototypes to demonstrate design capabilities.
• Gather feedback from early users and pilots; iterate with product management and engineering teams.
• Operate within a quality management system to enable traceability.
• Participate in DfM efforts to ensure manufacturability and serviceability.
