Job summary

Ocean Optics, a Halma plc subsidiary, seeks a Sr. Optical Engineer in Orlando to design and develop optical systems for spectroscopy, sensing, and imaging.

You will analyze systems, select components, conduct tests, and deliver reports while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate holds a Master’s or PhD in Optical Engineering or Physics, with 7+ years of experience and proficiency in Zemax/Code V, MATLAB, and Python.

Qualifications

• Masters or PhD in Optical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in optical system design, testing, and evaluation.
• Strong knowledge of optical design software such as Zemax or Code V.
• Experience with optical component selection and characterization.
• Experience with optical system analysis, modeling, and simulation.
• Experience with optical testing and experimentation.
• Strong communication and design for high-volume manufacturing.
• Data analysis capabilities using MATLAB, Python or comparable.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop optical systems for spectroscopy, sensing, and imaging.
• Perform optical system analysis, modeling, tolerancing, and simulation.
• Conduct optical component selection and characterization.
• Design and conduct optical experiments and tests; analyze results.
