Job summary

Ocean Optics is seeking a Sr. Optical Engineer to design and develop optical systems for spectroscopy, sensing, and imaging. You will lead technical programs and mentor junior engineers to deliver high-quality photonics solutions.

You will perform analyses, tolerancing, and simulations using Zemax or Code V, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into robust optical designs and validated performances.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Optical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in optical system design, testing, and evaluation.
• Proficiency with optical design software such as Zemax or Code V.
• Strong data analysis capability with MATLAB or Python.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop optical systems for spectroscopy, sensing, and imaging.
• Perform optical system analysis, modeling, tolerancing, and simulation.
• Select and characterize optical components.
• Design and conduct optical experiments and tests.
• Analyze optical data and generate reports for stakeholders.
• Mentor a team of junior engineers and collaborate cross-functionally.
