Lyte in Sunnyvale, California, is seeking a highly motivated Senior Optical Engineer to join the System Optics Team. You will own optical components and subsystems from requirements definition through qualification, manufacturing introduction, and sustaining support.

This hands-on role focuses on lens and optical design, testing, and collaboration with mechanical, electrical, firmware, software, quality, and supplier teams to deliver optics that meet system-level performance.

Qualifications

• Hands-on lens or optical system design experience.
• Proficiency with Zemax OpticStudio and CODE V.
• Strong fundamentals in optics and imaging systems.
• Experience deriving specs from system requirements.
• Experience with optical tolerancing and Monte Carlo analysis.
• Experience with optical testing and qualification.
• Familiarity with manufacturing and DFMA.

Responsibilities

• Own optical design for lenses, windows, and mirrors from concept to production.
• Develop designs using Zemax OpticStudio or CODE V and perform tolerancing.
• Lead cross-functional design reviews with internal and external teams.
• Plan hands-on optical testing including MTF, WFE, distortion.
• Correlate measurements with simulations and refine models.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing to resolve issues.
• Drive yield improvement and cost reduction in optics.
• Develop Python automation for design and analysis.
