Job summary

Atom Computing seeks an Optical Assembly & Alignment Engineer to build and align optical breadboards and laser-delivery assemblies for neutral-atom quantum systems. You will install optics, measure beam properties, and verify subsystem performance for system integration.

You will document alignment records, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with Bonding, Verification, and Manufacturing Engineering teams to improve repeat-build instructions and fixtures.

Qualifications

• Hands-on optical assembly and alignment experience.
• 5+ years in optical assembly and free-space alignment.
• Experience with neutral-atom quantum-optics or precision instrumentation preferred.
• Ability to read optical layouts and optomechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Assemble optical breadboards and hardware from layouts, BOMs, and work instructions.
• Install and align lenses, mirrors, polarization optics, and fiber-coupling assemblies.
• Measure optical power, beam profile, polarization, and coupling performance; use wavefront measurements where required.
• Troubleshoot optical loss, clipping, alignment drift, and polarization errors; document findings.
• Maintain optical cleanliness and safety throughout assembly and test.
• Complete subsystem verification and maintain records for repeatability.
