Job summary

Credo in San Jose, CA is seeking a High Speed Transceiver Application Engineer to validate high-speed modules (400G, 800G, 1.6T). You will work with hardware, firmware and manufacturing to ensure robust performance across operating conditions.

You will build automation, perform electrical validation, interoperability testing, and system-level debug, collaborating in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with diverse backgrounds and experience levels.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or higher in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering or Physics.
  • Hands-on experience with high-speed transceivers and lab instruments (oscilloscope, BERT, VNA).
  • Strong problem-solving and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Good communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Passion for high-speed signaling and system-level validation.

Responsibilities

  • Characterization of TIA/EML/SiPho components and tuning of lasers/modulators.
  • Validate stress receiver sensitivity and ensure link budget for 400G/800G/1.6T links.
  • Build automation scripts for test execution, data collection, and analysis (Python or similar).
  • Perform environmental and reliability stress testing (thermal cycling, voltage margining).
  • Analyze results, drive root-cause resolution with cross-functional teams.
  • Support module bring-up, firmware validation, and vendor qualification.
  • Contribute to DSP bring-up and tuning, including low-level signal processing.

Base salary rangeis $140,000 - $200,000. The base salary offer will depend on factors such as education, experience, training, skills, qualifications, and location. This position is also eligible for a discretionary bonus, equity and a full range of medical and other benefits.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Hands‑on experience with high-speed transceivers such as QSFP‑DD, OSFP, AEC, and related lab instruments (e.g., oscilloscope, BERT and VNA).
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate across hardware, firmware, and manufacturing teams.
  • Passion for high-speed signaling, system-level validation, and continuous learning.
  • Solid understanding of SerDes architecture, signal integrity, and high-speed link behavior.
  • Familiarity with DSP architecture and ability to write bring‑up and tuning code.

Responsibilities

  • Characterization of TIA/EML/SiPho optical components. For example, TIA gain and bandwidth, ac response characterization; bias current and thermal settings tuning for lasers and modulators optimization.
  • Validate stress receiver sensitivity test for module performance against OMA‑min requirements and ensure compliance with link budget allocations for 400G/800G/1.6T optical links.
  • Build automation scripts for test execution, data collection, and analysis using Python or other programming languages.
  • Conduct environmental and reliability stress testing, including thermal cycling, voltage margining, and soak tests.
  • Analyze test results, identify root causes, and drive resolution in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Support optical module bring‑up, firmware validation, and vendor qualification.
  • Contribute to DSP bring‑up and tuning, including writing low‑level code for signal processing and link optimization.
