Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in Rahway, NJ, is seeking an experienced clinical scientist to drive the scientific planning, strategy, and execution of Phase 1–4 clinical studies under the Program Lead, collaborating with global cross-functional teams.

The role leads protocol execution, mentors team members, partners with medical writers, and supports study startup activities while ensuring compliance with GCP/ICH and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience leading clinical trial scientific activities.
• Knowledge of GCP and ICH.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with planning and time management.
• Excellent communication, technical writing, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead/execute clinical protocol(s) from planning to execution.
• Serve as lead clinical scientist on the trial team.
• Collaborate with Medical Writer on clinical/regulatory documents.
• Partner with Study Manager on study deliverables.
• Participate in study start-up design (e.g., database setup).
• Lead medical monitoring reviews of data and deviations.
• Coach and develop team members; manage direct reports if applicable.
• Possibly serve as SME and participate in process improvements.
