Responsibilities

• Perform advanced ophthalmic tests and procedures, including refractions, visual field tests, and ocular motility assessments.
• Assist the ophthalmologist during complex patient examinations and minor surgical procedures.
• Take ocular and systemic histories and accurately record visual acuity.
• Perform testing required by exam type or history, including OCT, automated visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry.
• Conduct lensometry, automated refractometry, slit lamp exams with tonometry and anterior chamber angle assessment, and basic muscle balance testing.
• Act as scribe during patient examinations and enter data into EMR or paper charts.
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
• Ensure procedures are followed and informed consent obtained.
• Educate patients on eye health, treatments, and medications.
• Manage patient flow and maintain exam room cleanliness.
• Comply with all procedures and regulations and report potential errors.
• Maintain a positive, cooperative, and professional attitude.
