Unusual Ventures is a seed-stage venture capital firm founded in 2018, focused on infrastructure software and application-level companies. Our mission is to reinvent venture capital engagement by providing entrepreneurs with hands-on services and education.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized, action-oriented Senior Operations Manager to oversee our firm's operations across people, property, finance, and investment functions. This role reports to our CFO.

What You’ll Do

People Operations:

  • Assist with employee benefits administration
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Oversee compliance and training programs
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager, Finance Director, and CFO to update policies
  • Coordinate annual team self-assessments with the CFO

Program Support:

  • Support platform team events and programs
  • Coordinate logistics with external vendors, venues, and oversee related activities
  • Assist with event budgeting and expense tracking

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure timely reporting of filings, investor requests, and compliance tasks in collaboration with finance and operations teams

Office Administration:

  • Coordinate office needs with the Operations Associate, including leases and vendors
  • Manage internal calendars, policies, and reporting
  • Oversee external IT provider (Pliancy)
  • Manage meeting agendas, follow-ups, and firmwide calendar updates

Team Coordination:

  • Conduct 1:1 meetings with team members as needed
  • Coordinate team coverage during PTO periods

General Requests:

  • Address ad-hoc requests from GPs, CFO, and team members

Office Budget:

  • Track office expenses in collaboration with support and finance teams

What You Have

  • Experience in Venture Capital or Private Equity preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in operations, finance, consulting, or administration
  • Curiosity and eagerness to grow and learn
  • Proactive, problem-solving attitude
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively
  • Excellent communication skills; proficient with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Airtable
  • Professionalism and confidentiality in handling sensitive information
