Job summary

Responsibilities

• Maintain, monitor, and review Strategic’s IBOR including daily and monthly portfolio valuations, transaction activity, and performance results.
• Review portfolio data and performance calculations to ensure accurate client and internal reporting.
• Process, book, settle, and reconcile direct and investment-manager transactions, including derivatives.
• Record daily and monthly client transactions and cash activity in applicable systems and reconcile against custodian records.
• Conduct regular reconciliations of portfolio cash, positions, transactions, and valuations against custodian and other third-party records.
• Identify, research, and resolve transaction, position, cash, valuation, and performance discrepancies promptly.
• Coordinate with portfolio managers, investment managers, custodians, prime brokers, and counterparties to resolve portfolio-specific activity.
• Support client investment transitions and establishment of new accounts, investments, and investment managers, coordinating with custodians and prime brokers.
• Prepare customized accounting, performance, and other operational reports for clients and their accounting teams.
• Participate in and lead team initiatives, operational improvement projects, system implementations, testing, and releases affecting Operations.
• Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, scalability, and efficiency.
• Share knowledge and train team members as needed.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

The Senior Operations Analyst supports the operational management of institutional investment portfolios and helps ensure the accuracy and integrity of portfolio data, transactions, valuations, and performance reporting. Strategic’s Operations team plays a critical role in supporting our clients and investment professionals by processing transactions, managing client cash activity, maintaining portfolio records, coordinating activity among investment managers, custodians, and other counterparties, and producing performance results.

The Senior Operations Analyst will independently manage core operational responsibilities, research and resolve complex discrepancies, contribute to operational controls, and help lead process improvements and system-related initiatives. We seek an energetic, detail-oriented professional with a background in accounting, finance, or investment operations who is interested in developing expertise across the many facets of institutional portfolio operations in a collegial, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, monitor, and review Strategic’s investment book of record (IBOR), including daily and monthly portfolio valuations, transaction activity, and performance results.


• Review portfolio data and performance calculations to ensure accurate and timely client and internal reporting.


• Process, book, settle, and reconcile direct and investment-manager transactions, including derivatives.


• Record daily and monthly client transactions and cash activity in applicable systems and reconcile activity against custodian records.


• Conduct regular reconciliations of portfolio cash, positions, transactions, and valuations against custodian and other third-party records.


• Identify, research, and resolve transaction, position, cash, valuation, and performance discrepancies in a timely manner.


• Coordinate with portfolio managers, investment managers, custodians, prime brokers, and counterparties to resolve portfolio-specific activity and operational issues.


• Support client investment transitions and the establishment of new accounts, investments, and investment managers, including coordination with custodians, prime brokers, and other counterparties.


• Prepare customized accounting, performance, and other operational reports for clients and their accounting teams.


• Perform quality-control reviews and help maintain effective operational procedures, controls, and documentation.


• Participate in and lead team initiatives, operational improvement projects, system implementations, testing, and releases affecting the Operations team.


• Identify procedural and operational inefficiencies and recommend, coordinate, and implement solutions that improve accuracy, scalability, and efficiency.


• Serve as a resource to other team members by sharing knowledge, providing guidance, and supporting training, as appropriate.


• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.


• 3-5 years of relevant experience in investment operations, fund accounting or administration, performance measurement and analytics, or portfolio-management support.


• Working knowledge of investment accounting, portfolio valuation, transaction processing, reconciliation, and the trade lifecycle.


• Experience working with financial custodians, investment managers, prime brokers, or other financial counterparties preferred.


• Experience with institutional investment portfolios, portfolio accounting, or investment book of record systems preferred.


• Working knowledge of derivatives, including futures, preferred.


• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.


• Experience with data analysis, automation tools, artificial intelligence applications, SQL, Python, or other programming languages


• Ability to learn and become proficient in multiple investment, accounting, and reporting systems.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently investigate and resolve complex operational issues.

Compensation

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work at this location and reflects the salary range Strategic Investment Group expects to pay for this role at the time of this posting. The actual salary offered to a candidate will be determined based on a combination of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications, as well as the specific responsibilities and scope of the role. As a result, individual offers may vary within the posted range. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed-upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Arlington, Virginia: $75,000 to $90,000 for Senior Operations Analyst
