Job summary

The Tatitlek Corporation is seeking an experienced Operating Engineer in Charleston, SC, to operate, maintain, and repair boilers, HVAC systems, and electrical equipment in a heavy-duty facilities environment.

You will troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical problems, ensure safety and compliance, and mentor junior engineers while coordinating with contractors for upgrades and energy-saving initiatives. DoD clearance is required.

Qualifications

3+ years of experience in Engineering Services or facility operations.
Active DoD Secret security clearance or ability to obtain.
Valid 3rd Class Boiler Engineer license (DC) or ability to obtain.
Strong knowledge of boiler, HVAC, and BAS systems and safety regulations.
Ability to read schematics and manuals; strong problem-solving.

Responsibilities

Operate, monitor, and maintain boilers, HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, and related equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance on electrical devices, pumps, motors, and BAS.
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical system failures to minimize downtime.
Monitor building systems to maintain temperature, humidity, and air quality.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, codes, and environmental standards.
Maintain logs of operations and maintenance activities.
Respond to emergency situations, including after-hours calls.
Provide guidance to junior engineers and maintenance staff.
Coordinate with contractors for repairs and upgrades.
Manage energy conservation initiatives to reduce costs.
Support development of preventive maintenance programs.
Maintain inventory levels of parts and supplies.
