Job summary

PUBG Studios Seattle is seeking a Senior Environment Artist to lead the creation of immersive, large-scale game environments in Bellevue, WA. You will mentor a team, refine workflows, and collaborate across disciplines to ensure artistic and technical excellence in open-world settings.

The ideal candidate has 5–8+ years in game environments, strong leadership, and hands-on experience with Unreal Engine 4/5, shaders, and PBR workflows.

Qualifications

• 5-8+ years as an environment artist in the video game industry with 2+ shipped titles.
• Strong leadership and mentorship experience guiding a team of artists.
• Proficiency in Blender, Substance Suite, ZBrush and Photoshop.
• Experience with large-scale terrain, modular and procedural workflows.
• Experience owning large areas of map/level production.
• Experience creating and analyzing pixel shaders.
• Experience using photo scan data and satellite imagery.
• Recent Unreal Engine 4/5 experience with materials and pixel shaders.
• Deep understanding of PBR, composition, lighting, and environmental storytelling.
• Strong knowledge of natural biomes, foliage, architecture, and set dressing.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop large-scale environments from concept to polish.
• Build modular environment kits and world-building pipelines for open worlds.
• Mentor a team of artists, provide feedback and drive best practices.
• Collaborate with Art Directors and designers to ensure visual consistency.
• Refine environment workflows, tools, and production pipelines.
• Optimize assets for performance and memory constraints.
• Coordinate asset integration with engineers and level designers.
• Stay current with industry trends and push environment art boundaries.
