Job summary

Modular is seeking a Senior Open Source Community Manager to bridge engineering and developers building Mojo and MAX. You will own open source triage, contribute to strategy, and foster a thriving ecosystem around Modular's platform.

This remote-friendly role is based in the US/Canada, with onboarding in Los Altos, CA; travel to conferences and events is expected (2–4 times per year).

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in technical community management, developer relations, developer advocacy, or a similar role working directly with technical communities.
• Software engineering background (2+ years) with hands‑on experience in systems programming, AI/ML infrastructure, Python, or related technologies.
• Deep understanding of open source development practices, including GitHub workflows, contribution management, and community governance models.
• Experience contributing to or maintaining open source projects, with a track record of successful community engagement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated track record of improving developer experience through community feedback.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to debug technical issues and provide actionable solutions.
• Self‑motivated and comfortable working autonomously in a fast‑paced, remote‑friendly startup environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical expert in forums and Discord, answer questions about Mojo and MAX, and guide best practices.
• Triage and manage GitHub Issues/PRs, lead weekly reviews, and prioritize community contributions.
• Help develop and execute Modular's open source strategy, identifying opportunities to open source new products.
• Shape packaging strategy and build a vibrant ecosystem for Mojo and MAX.
• Identify feedback patterns and elevate insights to product/engineering to guide roadmap and improve DX.
• Build relationships with key community members and ecosystem partners to foster advocacy.
• Represent Modular at events and help plan developer-focused events.
