Philadelphia Gas Works in Philadelphia, PA is seeking a Senior Staff Attorney for Open Records and Litigation to join our legal team. The role is primarily on-site in a fast-paced environment with a potential hybrid schedule after six months for Pennsylvania residents.

You will handle records requests under the Right to Know Law, advise on regulatory, litigation and related matters, and coordinate with outside firms on complex cases requiring higher liability considerations.

Qualifications

• Must have an analytical and communication skills to interpret and translate complex legal terms into written and verbal forms that are easily understood by all levels of staff.
• Must have leadership ability with a willingness to lead, take charge, and provide guidance for special assignments and advancement.
• 5 or more years of experience working with laws and regulations related to open records, litigation, commercial, energy and/or regulatory law.
• Practice before governmental/regulatory agencies such as the Pennsylvania Office of Open Records, PUC, Gas Commission, City of Philadelphia, FERC, City Council, etc. preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on matters affecting PGW related to open records, regulatory, litigation, municipal, energy and other areas.
• Serve as PGW’s Open Records Officer and respond to records requests under applicable laws.
• Research opinions, rulings and findings to provide sound legal advice for company matters.
• Advise management and represent PGW in negotiations, administrative and court actions as assigned.
