Job summary

Patterson-UTI in Texas is seeking a Sr. Well Planner to support the Directional Department in planning, development and execution of onshore directional drilling. You will collaborate with Engineers and Geologists and use Landmark COMPASS to calculate trajectories and meet customer objectives.

You will mentor junior staff, develop department practices, prepare reports, and maintain data and logs. Strong knowledge of anti-collision mitigation, AutoCAD, MS Office and COMPASS is required, along

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 5 years of well planning experience for onshore wells with multi-well pad planning and collision avoidance.
• 1 year of experience with Landmark COMPASS.
• 1 year of experience with AutoCAD.
• Proven experience and working knowledge of anti-collision mitigation well designs.
• Strong mathematical, analytical and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide training and guidance within the Well Planning Department.
• Attend and participate in related industry conferences and customer meetings as required.
• Research, provide recommendations and help develop written processes.
• Gather and interpret data to calculate well plans as required by customer.
• Prepare plan reports, anti-collision reports, and wall plots for customer and field use.
• Prepare daily PVA reports and End of Well reports.
• Update department, customer and field databases to ensure consistency.
• Record and archive customer documentation and correspondence.
• Maintain job logs and daily tracking databases.
• Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Work independently and prioritize time to meet deadlines.
