Job summary
The American Cancer Society is seeking an experienced medical journalist to develop clear, timely cancer information for the public and healthcare professionals. This advanced role leads high-priority content initiatives, translates complex science into accessible content, and advises leadership on opportunities and priorities.
This is a fully remote position open to candidates across the United States. You will collaborate with editors, clinicians, and SEO teams to optimize content for search
Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, or related field.
- Master's or Doctorate preferred.
- Medical Writer Certification or equivalent is preferred.
- 7–10 years in medical journalism or health communications required.
Responsibilities
- Lead identification of time-sensitive oncology topics for integration in ACS content.
- Write, edit, and refine cancer news and information for public audiences.
- Develop innovative content and storytelling to strengthen ACS visibility.
- Conduct interviews with clinicians, researchers, and subject matter experts.
- Collaborate with editors, SEO, and editorial staff to align with user search behavior.
