Job summary

Horizon Air is seeking a Senior On-Site Maintenance Partner to act as SME for maintenance vendor operations, inspections and compliance at Horizon Air. Role Summary

The Senior On-Site Maintenance Partner is the subject matter expert in maintenance vendor operations, aircraft inspections, and maintenance compliance at Horizon Air. As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgment to make decisions regarding aircraft maintenance activities and vendor oversight to ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and operational reliability, and provides recommendations to address aircraft discrepancies, maintenance findings, and operational challenges.

Key Duties
  • Act as a subject matter expert in maintenance vendor operations, aircraft inspections, and maintenance compliance, ensuring maintenance activities performed on Company aircraft meet FAA, manufacturer, and Horizon Air requirements.
  • Serve as Horizon Air's on-site representative with Maintenance Repair Organizations (MROs), coordinating with Horizon’s maintenance teams to resolve maintenance and operational issues.
  • With minimal direction from leadership, exercise considerable judgment to make decisions regarding aircraft maintenance activities, inspection findings, repair priorities, and vendor oversight to ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and operational reliability.
  • Guide and influence maintenance vendors and business partners to ensure maintenance work is performed in accordance with approved procedures, airworthiness requirements, and Horizon Air policies and procedures.
  • Develop recommendations for Maintenance leadership regarding authorization holder effectiveness, vendor performance, maintenance procedures, inspection requirements, inspection scope and depth, buy-back procedures, and corrective actions to support compliance and airworthiness standards.
  • Apply deep knowledge of maintenance processes to evaluate labor hours and material estimates for non-routine findings and provide approvals or recommendations that support effective maintenance execution.
  • Manage execution of aircraft inspection and repair oversight activities to validate work quality, maintenance documentation, and compliance with regulatory requirements, Horizon Air maintenance procedures, airworthiness agreements, and contractual obligations.
  • Develop solutions for aircraft discrepancies, maintenance findings, and emerging issues to support safe and compliant maintenance operations.
  • Influence cross-functionally and build relationships with Maintenance Repair Organizations (MROs), Inspectors, engineering teams, manufacturers, and maintenance leaders to support effective communication, resolve maintenance and operational issues, and ensure adherence to Horizon Air maintenance procedures and policies.
  • Communicate frequently with maintenance vendors, engineering teams, and maintenance leaders regarding maintenance milestones, priorities, risks, parts availability concerns, engineering issues, and operational impacts to support informed decision-making and operational readiness.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 4 years of experience in air carrier maintenance, maintenance oversight, or quality control.
  • Bachelor's degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Airframe and Powerplant License.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and non-standard hours to support operational needs.
  • Ability to analyze complex maintenance issues, exercise sound judgment, and make effective decisions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence others and establish effective working relationships.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Teams.
  • Availability to travel up to 10% as needed.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • E-175 General Familiarization Course, 80 hours or above.
  • Experience working with maintenance repair organizations (MROs), aircraft inspection programs, or quality control activities.
  • Ability to interpret and apply FAA regulations, maintenance procedures, technical manuals, and company policies.
  • Working knowledge of TRAX production, maintenance, materials and engineering modules.

Salary Range

$77,150 -- $115,750 / year

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees. Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
