Job summary

Balfour Beatty in Charlotte is seeking a General Superintendent to lead on-site construction activities, coordinate subcontractors, and uphold the Zero Harm safety culture across the jobsite.

The role includes partnering with the project manager to develop budgets, input into preconstruction, and mentor field staff to ensure tasks are completed on time and within budget while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 10+ years of commercial construction field experience. Depending upon the project size, scope, and complexity, the years of experience may vary. Depending upon the role, this may require demonstrated ability to assist with more than one project at a time.
• Strong understanding of structural, MEP, and architectural coordination.
• Proven ability to manage site operations, safety, and schedules.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Proficiency with construction software such as Procore, Bluebeam, and Primavera P6.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate subcontractors’ work and manage day-to-day construction activities on-site.
• Assist project manager with reviewing progress, costs, schedules and project requirements.
• Participate in preconstruction planning, scheduling, and buyout strategy.
• Communicate expectations on schedules, methods, safety, and quality to all parties.
• Mentor superintendents, assistant superintendents and field personnel; support safety training.
• Lead weekly progress and safety meetings; ensure on-time, on-budget project delivery.
