Job summary

Quantum Technologies. LLC is seeking an experienced DB2/IMS Database Administrator for our Chicago, IL production environments. You will manage DB2 for z/OS and IMS, work with COBOL, CICS, JCL, and mainframe tools, and ensure high availability in a 24/7 rotation.

The role emphasizes performance tuning, security, and data integrity. You will collaborate with developers, infrastructure, and QA to implement changes, run backups, monitor logs, and execute maintenance tasks while upholding regulatory

Qualifications

Extensive production DB2/IMS administration experience.
Experience with DB2 data sharing and IMS Sysplex environments.
Familiar with mainframe tools and IBM utilities.
Experience in regulated environments with audit exposure.
Strong communication and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

Provide 24x7 support for DB2 and IMS database environments, including on‑call rotation.
Monitor database performance, availability, and integrity using mainframe tools and utilities.
Respond to incidents, troubleshoot issues, and resolve problems related to DB2/IMS systems.
Perform database backup and recovery procedures for DB2 and IMS databases.
Conduct regular reorgs, image copies, and utilities execution (RUNSTATS, REORG, CHECK).
Support DB2 and IMS subsystem maintenance, upgrades, and patching.
Analyze and tune SQL queries, buffer pools, and access paths in DB2.
Optimize IMS database segments, DBDs, PSBs, and access methods.
Work with developers to design efficient data access strategies.
Review and implement database schema changes via Change Control processes.
Participate in software releases, ensuring database readiness and minimal impact on production.
