Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Display Hardware Engineer for OLED panels to advance next‑generation OLED technology for automotive displays. The role focuses on pixel structure, OLED stack design, and integration with TCONs and driver ICs, driving technology maturation toward production programs.

You will partner with suppliers and internal cross‑functional teams to validate concepts, perform bench testing, and ensure readiness for handoff to Sourcing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Display Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in OLED display technology development, advanced display engineering, or display driver electronics.
• Strong knowledge of OLED pixel architecture, LTPS/Oxide backplanes, and tandem OLED stack technologies.
• Experience with TCONs, driver ICs, display interfaces, and timing architectures.
• Understanding of OLED optical performance, including brightness, color gamut, viewing angle, and color shift.
• Experience with display characterization, simulation, and validation tools.
• Familiarity with automotive display performance and reliability requirements.

Responsibilities

• Scout and evaluate emerging OLED pixel structure and tandem stack technologies for future automotive displays.
• Define technology requirements and feasibility criteria for next-gen OLED structures and lead early supplier engagement.
• Lead PoC builds and technology demonstrations with OLED panel suppliers.
• Evaluate optical performance using simulations and bench measurements in coordination with the Optical Engineer.
• Define and validate TCON and driver IC specifications for emerging technologies with vendors.
• Conduct bench evaluations and simulations on brightness, color shift, and power consumption.
• Lead supplier testing under automotive conditions to advance production readiness.
• Analyze panel data and correlate with design choices to assess maturity for programs.
• Drive root-cause resolution of panel issues with suppliers to de-risk tech.
• Coordinate with Optical Engineer on coatings integration for glare reduction.
• Interface with the Optical Engineer to align OLED development with the display roadmap.
• Build the technology maturation package and lead transfer to Sourcing when mature.
