Job summary

CGAS, LLC is seeking a Captain/Master Responder in Venice, LA. The role requires supervising oil spill response operations, maintaining equipment readiness, and ensuring compliance with regulatory inspections.

The candidate must hold a 100-ton Captain’s license and have strong seamanship and supervisory experience. The position calls for on-call deployment 24/7, with a Monday–Friday schedule and on-site work at Venice, LA.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• 5–8 years related experience, with at least 3 years supervisory.
• Experience responding to emergencies, seamanship, warehouse management, and general computer skills.
• Valid TWIC card.

Responsibilities

• Operate as field level supervisor for deployment, operation and recovery of all CGAS oil spill equipment.
• Maintain readiness and complete PM maintenance procedures.
• Respond to 24/7 deployment on-call basis.
• Operate CGA COI vessels requiring a 100-ton Captain’s license.
• Read and apply technical manuals and diagnose malfunctions.
• Prepare written activity reports and maintain stock inventories.
• Generate field tickets for CGAS members during spills or drills.
• Prepare ARP documents for vendor and contractor billing.
• Understand CGAS engineering, logistics, and maintenance standards.
• Oversee maintenance of equipment and vessel readiness.
• Prepare vessels/barges for regulatory inspections.
• Execute Planned Maintenance Programs.
• Supervise contractors for high-level maintenance.
