Job summary

Opportune LP is seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant for its Northwest Houston office. The role focuses on independently processing revenue accounting and regulatory duties for multiple clients within the oil and gas sector.

The candidate will research and resolve complex discrepancies, reconcile monthly revenue and regulatory accounts, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate client reporting and timely compliance. Title and compensation are commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• Minimum of four years of oil and gas revenue accounting or related experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of oil and gas revenue accounting processes, reconciliations, owner distributions, regulatory requirements, and related accounting concepts.
• Ability to independently research issues, analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and develop appropriate solutions.
• Strong professional presence with effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate directly with clients and cross-functional teams.
• Strong organizational, time-management, planning, and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple clients, priorities, and deadlines.
• Proficiency with BOLO or similar oil and gas accounting systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently process monthly revenue accounting for assigned clients, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Research and resolve complex revenue discrepancies, variances, allocation issues affecting client results.
• Prepare, review, and reconcile revenue and regulatory accounts monthly.
• Coordinate regulatory reporting and assist with discrepancies or compliance issues.
• Prepare and distribute accurate client reporting and communicate findings to clients and leadership.
• Review and coordinate DOI-related matters affecting revenue processing and owner distributions.
• Lead or independently complete client projects, onboarding activities, and other special projects.
• Coordinate with Production, AP, JIB, Financial Accounting, Land, Division Order, Regulatory, and other departments to resolve issues.
• Identify risks, process deficiencies, or client concerns and propose solutions to leadership.
• Maintain strong client relationships through proactive, professional communication.
• Meet Opportune deadlines and participate in department initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
