The Position

There are current vacancies in the Health and Human Services Agency. Additionally, the eligibility list established from this recruitment will be used to fill full‑time, part‑time, limited term and extra help vacancies as they occur over the 12 months.

Vacancies

Mental Health - The current vacancy is in the Psychiatric Medication Clinic. The Medication Clinic is a fast‑paced work environment and requires the ability to work with people who may show symptoms of mental illness using compassion and clear communication.

The Senior Office Assistant is responsible for greeting clients, maintaining schedules for doctors, and documenting appointments in an electronic health record.

Position Requirements

Experience and Education

The following combination of experience and education that would likely produce the required knowledge, skills and abilities is required. A desirable combination is:

  • Experience: Three years of significant, directly related and progressive general clerical experience.
  • Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by specialized clerical training.
  • License or Certificate*: Certain positions assigned to this class may require possession of a valid California Driver's License.

Additional Qualifications: Certain positions may require bilingual (Spanish) speaking skills. If bilingual skills are required, applicants will be required to take and pass a bilingual (Spanish) exam.

Recruitment Process

  • Written Examination Week of November 13, 2023
  • Successful completion of the written examination.
  • Establish Eligible List Tentatively by the week of November 20, 2023. Candidates who are successful at passing the written examination will be placed on the eligibility list and may be considered for current and future vacancies for up to one year.

Salaries are based on a five-step range. Appointments are usually make at the beginning step with advances occurring at six months and the completion of each year thereafter. Salary rates are reviewed annually.

Physical Standards - Certain designated County positions require a candidate to pass a physical examination prior to appointment. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of this examination.
