Job summary

Astera Labs is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer, Offensive Security in San Jose, CA, to lead the offensive security program across hardware, firmware, software, cloud, and IT. You will drive adversary emulation, vulnerability research, and exploit development to harden our silicon, firmware, systems, and platforms.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product security and IT, and help set secure-by-design practices as Astera Labs scales its AI connectivity platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/CE/EE or related field.
• 12+ years in offensive security including red teaming or pentesting.
• Proficiency with Python, C/C++, and assembly; MITRE ATT&CK knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead offensive security strategy across hardware, firmware, software, cloud, and enterprise IT.
• Plan and execute red team, penetration testing, and adversary emulation engagements against production and pre-production assets.
• Partner with product security, engineering, IT, and GRC teams to prioritize findings, drive remediation, and validate fixes.
• Communicate complex technical risk clearly to engineering leaders and executives.
