Job summary

Hatch in Los Angeles, CA seeks an experienced OCS Engineer to join our North American Infrastructure Rail Systems team. You will design overhead contact system layouts for light rail and related transit, coordinate with other engineers and prepare design reports.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree, 5–15 years in OCS design, NEC knowledge, and a PE license or EIT is a plus. Experience in North American transit projects is highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5–15 years of experience with dc OCS systems design.
  • Thorough understanding of NEC and local codes.
  • Professional engineer license or engineer-in-training certificate is an advantage.
  • Experience with the North American transit/transportation industry is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Design OCS layout, wire tensions, foundations, poles/columns/structures for rail and streetcar systems.
  • Coordinate with other engineers for systems integration and design.
  • Prepare design reports.
  • Develop specifications, drawings and cost estimates.
  • Review submittals and RFIs from contractors.
  • Provide installation, testing and commissioning support.
  • Manage OCS projects.
